Fishing Report

The Cocoa Beach is one of the most well known spots in the world to Fly Fish for redfish and gator sea trout. We have over 400 miles of shoreline in this area and our rivers are an average depth of 3 feet. On good days you can spot redfish tailing over a hundred yards away. So what's missing from this picture...

You don't have to take my word for it though. ESPN, The Outdoor Life Network and many others have targeted our flats for many of the shows you see on TV. Now, stop dreaming about being poled around a flat with a fly rod in your hand hoping to see backing and let's go catch some memories of your own.

I am a Full Time guide that specializes in Light Tackle Sight Fishing in the Cocoa Beach area. I ways born on Cocoa Beach and with the exception of a few years in the service this area has always been my home. I currently fish these waters over 300 days a year and have over 35 years experience fishing Cocoa Beach.

Over 50% of the charters I run are with fly fishermen so I know how to set you up for the cast and what flies are going to help us put more fish on the end of your line.

I am a G-Loomis Pro Staffer that carries fly rods designed to handle the big fast moving fish our area is known for. I carry the G-Loomis Cross Current Pro's as well as the Cross Current GLX rods.

I am also a Ross Pro Staffer and carry the Momentum and New Momentum LT reels. These reels have one of the strongest drags in the world so you will never have to worry about a drag going south when you need it most.

If you are an experienced sight caster or fly fisherman here is something you'll love. Nothing on my deck to get in your way. I hate stumbling over or getting my fly line hung up on a trolling motor or other clutter when I'm fishing. Besides, I'm a poling purist, I don't even own a trolling motor. I come from the old school of sight fisherman. It is all about stealth and the thrill of the chase. Most of my life has been standing on a platform spotting fish for people and setting them up for the cast.

Most of the redfish we have caught over the past 5 years have averaged 35 inches with a few up to 55 inches. When the conditions are right, you can spot these fish feeding on the flats 200 yards away. With the fish in your site, we sneak up on them, you take your cast and start stripping you line. The water explodes and your line flies off the deck. Now the real battle begins. After fighting a big red, you can count on going home with a sore arm.

Another fun fish to catch in the Indian and Banana Rivers is the spotted sea trout. It is common to catch them between 12 to 27 inches with an occasional gator (30+ inches). There are few things more exciting than hooking into a big sea trout on a top water fly.

During the winter one of the most requested charters I run is for ladyfish. We refer to these fish as poor mans tarpon. That are a smaller cousin to the tarpon and love to spend a lot of time in the are. These fish are a favorite of first time and experienced fly fisherman. They will test your skills and get you ready for their larger cousins.
